P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) was founded on January 21, 1869, by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Today, P.E.O. has grown from that small membership of seven to more than 225,000 members in chapters in the United States and Canada. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is passionate about its mission: promoting educational opportunities for women. Our sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women's lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, and five other philanthropies that provide higher educational assistance which include the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund, P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, P.E.O. Scholar Awards, and P.E.O. STAR Scholarship.

Special Events Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood is seeking one or more Special Events Interns for summer 2019. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work flexible part-time to full-time hours from May – August 2019, with the possibility to continue through September 2019 to assist with the 74th Convention of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

A Special Event Intern will have the opportunity to work for the international headquarters based in Des Moines, Iowa, and experience firsthand what it takes to work at a nonprofit, member-based organization, while gaining real experience in event planning, logistics, customer relationship management, mobile application development, communications and marketing.
