Meet the President of P.E.O. International Chapter
Sue Baker of Warren, Ohio, was installed as president of the International Chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood at the organization’s biennial convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 28-30, 2017. Sue's theme for the coming biennium is "With Gratitude and Grace...Lead Forward."
Born and raised in Wooster, Ohio, Sue graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. While at Ohio State, she was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, a national honor society for nurses. As an RN and registered vascular technologist, she specialized in cardiac and vascular nursing. In addition to her faculty responsibilities at the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, she held nursing leadership positions.
Sue’s P.E.O. journey began in 1979 with her initiation into Chapter EE, Warren, Ohio—her current chapter. Sue served on the Ohio state P.E.O. board for 5 years, presiding as president at the Convention of Ohio State Chapter in 2004. Sue developed and extended her P.E.O. service through four years on the International Peace Scholarship Fund Board of Trustees. She is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.
Sue is married to Chuck. Their three daughters are active P.E.O.s, initiated by Sue. Sue and Chuck are delighted to have four granddaughters and two grandsons.
Active in the United Methodist Church, Sue has served as chairman of the Administrative Board and Staff-Parish Relations Committee and led the children’s music program for many years. Past community activities include Women’s Panhellenic Association, Warren Junior Crafts and the Board of Directors of the Northeast Ohio Adoption Agency for special needs children. Sue is the corporate secretary and office manager of her husband’s general contracting business, E. B. Baker and Sons, Inc.
In her spare time, Sue enjoys vacations with her family, attending sporting events, cooking, playing piano, playing harp and reading.
